SENIOR SECONDARY

Senior Secondary School comprises of Grade 10, 11 and 12. Not all secondary schools offer all subjects. Schools should teach subjects that their infrastructure can support. Therefore, a parent should select a school for their child based on their likes, interests and strengths. To find the ideal school for your child, click here.

Subjects for Senior School are based on 3 pathways:

  • 1. Arts and Sports Science.
  • 2. Social Sciences.
  • 3. Science, technology, engineering & mathematics.

The subjects for lower secondary are grouped into 2:

  • Community Service Learning.
  • Physical Education.

Arts

Legal & Ethical issues in arts

Communication skills

The learner will be required to take one of the following:

  • Performing arts- music, dance, theatre
  • Visual & Applied Arts- fine art, applied art, time based media, crafts

Sports Science

Human physiology, anatomy & nutrition

Sports ethics

The learner will be required to take a minimum of one and a maximum of 2 of the following:

  • Ball games
  • Athletics
  • Indoor games
  • Gymnastics
  • Water sports
  • Boxing
  • Martial arts
  • Outdoor pursuits
  • Advanced physical education
Social sciences

Humanities

For this pathway, a learner will choose a min of 3 and a maximum of 5 from a single pathway.

Languages

  • English language
  • Literature in English
  • Lugha ya Kiswahili
  • Fasihi ya Kiswahili
  • Kenyan Sign Language
